Ingredients for Filling
• lean ground beef (1 lb.)
• tomato paste (1 tbsp.)
• pepper to taste
• diced onion (1 piece)
• flour (2 tbsp.)
• ground cinnamon (1/2 tsp.)
• diced carrots (3 pieces)
• Italian seasoning (1 tbsp.)
• fresh parsley, chopped (2 tbsp.)
• beef broth (1 1/2 cups)
• salt to taste
Ingredients for Topping
• diced potato without skin (4 pieces)
• softened butter (1/4 cup)
• milk (1 cup)
• shredded Cheddar cheese (1/4 lb.)
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Now you will be making filling: Prepare a skillet and heat it over medium heat. Add ground beef and crumble it. You need to saute the meat for around 1 min. Add in diced onion and diced carrot and keep sauteing the meat until it becomes brown. It should take around 5 min. Now you can add flour (2 tbsp.), ground cinnamon (1/2 tsp.), Italian seasoning (1 tbsp.), and chopped parsley (2 tbsp.).
Prepare a bowl and mix beef broth (1 1/2 cups) along with tomato paste (1 tbsp.). Mix all the ingredients well, and when it is done, you need to add the beef mixture along with some salt and some pepper. Change the level of the heat to low and keep simmering the mixture for around 15 min, stirring frequently. Make sure that the liquid is almost absorbed. Prepare a 9-in. pie plate and transfer the meat mixture there.
Now you will be making topping: Prepare a saucepan and place there potatoes pieces. Pour enough of water to cover and heat it over high heat and wait until the water begins to boil. The potatoes should be cooked in about 15 min. Make sure that they are tender and then drain.
Now you need to mash potatoes pieces until they become smooth. Add softened butter (1/4 cup) and then milk. Whip the ingredients until you get a fluffy mixture. Now you can add some pepper and some salt. Spread the potato mixture over the meat filling. Over the top, you need to sprinkle Cheddar cheese (1/4 lb.).
